Je me suis posé la question pour offrir une belle montre a mon père a ses 80 ans.
Déjà la première question, c’est quel est son mode de vie. Pour lui, une montre étanche était prioritaire, il veut la porter a tout moment de l’année, même sur le bord de la piscine l’été.
Deuxièmement, un affichage clair et contrasté, même si sa vie est encore bonne.
Déjà, ces deux indices portent sur une plongeuse plutôt sobre.
Enfin, il faut savoir qu’en étant né juste après la guerre, il a connu l’une des plus belle période de l’histoire de l’horlogerie, et son déclin. Pour cette génération, la montre a quartz représente la montre moderne et pas chère. C’est aussi une génération pour laquelle une montre Suisse est gage de qualité, donc pas de japonnaise, encor moins de chinoises.
Vu mon budget, je n’ai pas pu lui offre de Rolex submariner. En revanche en cherchant bien, mon choix c’est fait sur une Glycines Combat Sub, mouvement automatique pour moins de prise de tête. Suisse, étanche, sobre, facile à lire. Il a adoré. Il a surtout apprécié le côté sport, et pas vieillot. Il aurait déteste une montre trop classique et habillée. Je lui ai mis un bracelet nato, ça donne un côté “jeune”. Il ne faut pas oublier que ce sont de baby boomers.
Après quelques mois, retour d’expérience, j’ai juste un regret sur la version automatique car vu qu’il ne bouge pas beaucoup, elle n’est jamais complètement remontée et lorsqu’il la laisse une journée elle s’arrête. Pour pallier ça je lui ai offert un coffret remontoir.
A y réfléchir, j’aurai peut-être ajouté une réserve de marche, car là ça aurait eu du sens. L’option remontage manuel n’aurait pas été idiote, mais pour lui, le mouvement automatique représente le progrès.
