Bidirectional Rotation Programmed to Preserve Mechanisms
The Portofino™ automatically alternates between clockwise and counter-clockwise rotation according to a carefully studied rhythm — 2 minutes of rotation followed by 6 minutes of pause, in one direction then the other — to reproduce the natural movement of a wrist without unnecessarily stressing the mechanism. This cycle logic is suitable for common automatic calibers, whether strictly bidirectional or unidirectional, and limits the risk of over-winding over long periods. Tudor, Tissot, Longines, Hamilton, Oris, Seiko, Citizen, Frédérique Constant, Mido, Certina, or Rado: the programming adapts to the vast majority of mainstream manufacturers.

Inside, a Japanese-made motor powers the rotors. This choice is not insignificant: it's this component that makes the difference between a winder you can hear at night and one you only perceive by putting your ear to the case.
